Chapter Rating: PG-13
When Natalia walked through the door, she was immediately met with the rather unsurprised expression on Olivia's face.
Olivia smirked at her and returned her eyes towards her reflection in the mirror; she had already retouched her make-up but she thought it would, perhaps, be worth her while to pretend to do it again.
Give us more time to talk about the weather and such, her thoughts turning devious.
"How did you enjoy the meal, Natalia," she asked nonchalantly.
"Oh, the food was lovely, wasn't it?", the seething brunette said as she casually walked over to the wall behind Olivia and leaned against it.
"Indeed, it was." Olivia met the eyes that were watching her in the mirror. "I will have to frequent this place when your father hands the hotel to me. Perhaps bring a few friends to make up for the business they will lose in your family's absence."
Natalia rolled her eyes and folded her arms.
"I know what you're doing," her tone dropping.
Olivia turned slowly around and leaned back against the counter. She mimicked Natalia's blocked stance. "And what exactly is it that you think I'm doing, Natalia?" Her voice was steady and confident.
Natalia grinned at her but kept her steely glare. "Do you honestly believe that seducing my brother is going to win you a hotel?"
"Maybe I am simply enjoying the company of a handsome man who seems to be quite taken with me". Just look at this innocent face; I’d believe me. She laughed at her thoughts.
"The waiter that served you your salad seemed to be quite taken with you as well; you could have him if you need the affection so badly."
"Now why would I be in need of affection when I am clearly being given sooooo much of it from you?" It was to sound sarcastic but she was sure Natalia would grasp the hidden meaning.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Natalia asked defensively.
Olivia huffed in disbelief and waited a few seconds before shrugging her shoulders. "Well, if you don't know then I surely don't either." She moved off the counter and made her way to the towel dispenser.
"What is it with you?" Natalia's voice starting to convey more truly the anger she was feeling. "You and I both know that you have no real interest in the half-wit that I, unfortunately, have to call my brother."
"Is that so? What makes you so sure?"
Natalia's reply came quickly, "Because you are way above his league."
Olivia looked up to the ceiling and closed her eyes and sighed in exasperation. She'd had enough.
"Why do you that, Natalia?" She brought her angry eyes back to the younger woman's. "Why do you all but call me a whore in one sentence and then follow it up with words that actually make me feel as though I am worth more than shit in another?"
Natalia didn't know how to respond. She didn't like the look in Olivia's eyes. "Can you just stop embarrassing yourself with my brother? It isn't going to change a thing. He doesn't care what you are trying to get your hands on as long as those hands are on him at some point," she finished.
"Guess I'll have my hands full then, won't I?"
"Mateo's influence over my father's decisions is significantly less than mine; it’s laughable really. Besides, he doesn't care for games and he will see right through you. You aren't that good."
Olivia remained still, processing the insult in her head. She began making her way over to Natalia, tantalizingly slowly, as the sound of her heels hitting the floor echoed in the small room. She stopped a very short distance from Natalia. Their eyes never left each other's.
"One kiss. Natalia," she began in almost a whisper. She lowered her gaze to Natalia's full lips. "One kiss and I would be freely handed anything in the world I could possibly desire. Your hotel, your brother... the fucking world on a silver platter if I were to ask for it."
Natalia took a deep breath and moved forward to close the distance between them, their bodies almost touching. She spoke in the same breathy voice that Olivia had just been using.
"If it's the hotel you want, then my brother's lips aren't the one's you should be kissing." She waited as she watched Olivia lower her gaze once more. "So, what are you waiting for?"
Olivia stood motionless, barely breathing though her heartbeat was racing. This was a complete role reversal that she hadn't expected. She was the one who 'enticed', who 'charmed'. She was the deadly seductress who left countless bodies in her wake. And now she was paralyzed, staring at the beautiful lips that were being offered to her.
Natalia felt the heated rush of being back in control.
"That's what I thought."
She stepped slowly away from Olivia and flashed a look of amusement. And with that she moved towards the door, opened it without looking back, and walked away.
-----------------------------------------------------------
'What are you waiting for?'
Olivia kept running the scenario through her head as she leaned over the counter and stared at her reflection in the mirror. What the fuck just happened in here? She twisted a tap and watched the water pour out and flow down the drain.
Oh, nothing out of the ordinary, she answered her own question, just a devastatingly gorgeous woman asking you to kiss her.... giving you her permission... toying with you.
'What are you waiting for?'
What the fuck were you waiting for, you idiot? A kiss is just a kiss... guy... girl... what the hell is the difference? You're Olivia Freakin' Spencer, you KNOW how to kiss for Fuck's sake!
She shut the water off. OH!, and then there was that whole...
"That's what I thought." She mocked Natalia's words aloud with accentuated snarkiness.
"BITCH!"
She took a deep breath and when she was convinced that the color in her face had returned to its normal hue, she swung the door open and proceeded to rejoin the party.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dessert was being served and, although Olivia was already almost completely stuffed, she didn't want to decline the offer of the decadent delights out of courtesy.
The table began humming with conversation once more and Olivia began pushing her dessert around on her plate. Mindless of what was going on around her. Someone had just asked her about the value of the mighty Dollar and its effect on the Travel and Tourism Industry. She was too busy lecturing herself in her own head about the importance of being 'dominant'.
Natalia heard the man's question and looked over to see Olivia staring at her plate. She was pleased to see just how far off she had thrown the confident hotelier. When the man called Olivia's name and she still did not respond, Natalia shifted her leg to the side and, as unnoticeable as possible, kicked her heel backwards into Olivia's shin.
"MOTHER...." Olivia looked up instantly and noticed all eyes on her, " of Pearl!" She tried to cover for her would-be profanity. "This dessert is extraordinary! I apologize Mr. Bellerive, you were saying...?"
As the confused eyes left her for their own plates once again, she listened to Mr. Bellerive lapse into another drawn out conversation. Her leg still throbbing where Natalia had struck it. She did her best to conceal her fork in her hand and drew her hand slowly under the table. Natalia had just taken a sip of wine when Olivia forcefully jabbed the unsuspecting woman in the thigh with her utensil.
"MMPH", Natalia chocked on the sip she had taken and began coughing, her face getting redder by the second.
Olivia almost laughed out loud but decided instead to follow up her initial irritation with some obviously faked concern for the young woman. "Natalia, dear, are you alright?" she said, the syrupy sweetness dripping from her voice.
Natalia recovered enough to wave her hand in assurance to the rest of the onlookers that she was fine. Once she had regained control of both her voice and her rage, she leaned over to Olivia and whispered through clenched teeth. "I swear to GOD, if you just put four holes into this dress, it is going to cost you over a grand!"
Olivia sipped her wine and placed it in front of her. She leaned over to Natalia and whispered her reply. "If your heel has left a bruise, it will be so very worth every goddamned penny!"
They ate the rest of their dessert, ignoring each other as much as possible. Olivia made it a point to hang upon Mateo's every word and flash as many flirtatious smiles at him as opportunity would allow. Natalia decided to keep her back turned to the couple to prove that the atrocious display was not affecting her in the least. As the after-dinner conversations came to a close, Mr. Rivera announced that he would be retiring to the hotel for the night but, if any wished to stay behind, they were more than welcome to order more drinks on his tab. The rest of them dispersed gradually leaving Olivia and a foolishly grinning Mateo along with Natalia and the young Frenchman, who had just finished up chatting.
Olivia stood and Mateo followed suit.
"I have had such a wonderful evening getting to know you, Olivia. Please tell me the night hasn't ended already?" His charm was becoming annoying to the tired hotelier, but she knew that Natalia was in earshot and most definitely watching intently.
"Well, you did offer to take me somewhere less formal after this wonderful dinner, Mateo", she said as she linked her arm around his. "I would love to get to know each other somewhere where we could be a little more.... relaxed." The innuendo was unmistakable to everyone but the poor young man in the corner who didn't seem to give a damn what the Americans were saying anyways.
Mateo went over to bid 'adieu' to the young guest and gave his sister a disinterested nod. Olivia flashed a knowing smile at Natalia. "Good night, Ms. Rivera."
"Have fun, Ms. Spencer." Her reply came without a smile. Her chocolate eyes boring into emerald ones.
Olivia moved towards the door in front of Mateo. Just before they walked through the door, Mateo turned and, unbeknownst to Olivia, made an obscene gesture with his hands, indicating to his horrified sister just exactly what his intentions were for the beautiful woman in front of him.
When Natalia walked through the door, she was immediately met with the rather unsurprised expression on Olivia's face.
